Day 15 – Umkomaas

Another marathon done for the day – somewhere near Ifafa Beach to Umkomaas! Yeehaa!

Beautiful rolling cane fields and incredible lushness. Very very hot and lots of enormous (squashed fortunately!) green and black snakes on the roadside. Pete joined me for the first 25.5 km and my calf is feeling good enough for us to run most of the time (miraculous considering I couldn’t walk on Saturday!

Our route today took us to a bridge which has been washed away and is being reconstructed and the poor health and safety manager on site was beside himself when we wandered into his restricted area, hopped off the end of his semi constructed bridge, swam across the murky river and bundu bashed/climbed the bank on the far side. The alternative was to go a good couple of km’s around which was not an option.

[noteblock] Durban tomorrow! [/noteblock]
